Daniel Holland, MBA, ICD.D
President and CEO
In serving W5 clients, Daniel brings together experience in a wide range of roles including capital markets, finance, investment banking, management consulting, and business development. Most recently, he spent a decade driving a succession planning process of a family-owned business (Beacon Securities), purchase of the business, transition to a partnership model achieving ownership diversification and a national expansion.
As an investment banker with Beacon, he worked with varied types of businesses. Most of his corporate clients looking to access growth capital were known as special situations, small to mid-cap companies unique in their industry or business model. Before returning to Nova Scotia in 2006, Daniel spent nine years working in Europe, split between capital markets and management consulting.
Daniel has a BA in International Political Science from McGill University and an MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France). He is fluently bilingual. Daniel completed the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Directors’ Education Program in 2015.
Outside of his corporate role, he is Chair of Leave Out Violence Nova Scotia and is a member of the Board of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada. He recently stepped down after six years on the Board of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council.
